چکیده

IPv4 to IPv6 transition is an inevitable process when deploying IPv6 networks within the present IPv4 Internet. The transition process is complex as it has to deal with issues related to IPv4-IPv6 interoperability including routing, DNS, error handling, etc. In this paper, a new solution named DTTS (Dynamic Tunneling Transition Solution) for IPv4 to IPv6 transition based on dynamic tunneling technique and dual stack approach is presented. Dynamic tunneling technique is used to encapsulate an IPv4 packet in an IPv6 packet to achieve transparent and scalable transition. This technique, coupled with the dual stack approach, enables IPv4 applications to run and interact with other IPv4 applications in both IPv4 and IPv6 network environments without any modification and recompilation, and without NAT, nor any application proxy or gateway.

Global Mobile IPv6 Addressing Using Transition Mechanisms

The adoption of the Internet Protocol in mobile and wireless technologies has considerably increased the number of hosts that can potentially access the global Internet. IPv6 is considered the long term solution for the IPv4 address shortage problem, but the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 is supposed to be very gradual. Therefore, there will be a long time during which both protocol versions will...

The Design and Implementation of an IPv6/IPv4 Network Address

IPv6 is a new version of the internetworking protocol designed to address the scalability and service shortcomings of the current standard, IPv4. Unfortunately, IPv4 and IPv6 are not directly compatible, so programs and systems designed to one standard can not communicate with those designed to the other. IPv4 systems, however, are ubiquitous and are not about to go away “over night” as the IPv...

M3G: A Mobile Multicast Multimedia Gateway for Seamless IPv4/IPv6 Transition

A growing interest in third generation wireless IP network and service technologies, push up the demand on IPv6 transition. Most of these services require mobility, multicast and multimedia service supports. However, the transition to such a NG IP networks and services is slowed down because of the richness and complexity of the applications and the integration of legacy systems. Existing IETF ...

Providing Reliable IPv6 Access Service Based on Overlay Network

During the transition from IPv4 to IPv6, it is necessary to provide IPv6 access service for IPv6 islands inside the native IPv4 network to access the native IPv6 network. The existing IPv4/IPv6 transition methods make IPv6relay gateways maintained by IPv6 service providers become potential communication bottlenecks. In this paper, a new method PS6 is presented to reduce the reliance on these re...
